May 2008 Update

The Church

The builder is working very hard and there have been regular meetings by the building committee, progress has been dramatic. The body of the church is now painted out in a clean white colour and the decorator is ready to move into the kitchen and toilet area. The electrician is due back at the end of this week to fix all the fittings lighting switches and sockets. Lovely oak faced kitchen units are being fixed in the kitchen with spaces left for a new oven and dishwasher and the plumber will follow on to fit all the toilets and washbasins. In readiness for the new organ powerful speakers will be installed later this week in readiness for the organ. The organ is an Allen organ and has arrived from America to the agents who are now building in the specialist electrical equipment needed for St Mary’s. It will be extremely exciting to play and listen to and John and Herbert cannot wait to start playing on it. Orders are placed for the new flooring and seating .The oak main front doors are under construction, the design is very exciting with vision panels so we can see into church from outside  and the centre of the door  resembles a cross. No other doors in the country will look like these and they will be unique. A basic sound and loop system has been installed and we are waiting to see if we can obtain a grant to make the system more sophisticated with improved speakers and incorporating a power point facility. We are all getting very excited that soon we will be moving back into church and planning an open week for all to see.

Church Refurbishment - Latest - Dec 2007...

St Mary's is currently being refurbished and is closed for approx 3 months. All services are being held at the Methodist Chapel on Robin Lane, Beighton.

The Sunday morning service, usually at 10am will be held at 9.15am so as not to conflict with the Methodist services. All other services will be at their usual times.

Any baptisms booked will now be held at the chapel and this will be confirmed with families in advance of the day.
